TAOS SKI VALLEY RECEIVES FIRST SNOW OF THE YEAR

On August 20, 2003, the first snow of the year fell in New Mexicos highest mountain, Wheeler Peak located across from Taos Ski Valley. Residents of the Village reported seeing a white coating at about the 13,000 foot level, which was later confirmed by the Questa Ranger District of the Carson National Forest. The snow did not last very long as the sun later melted all the evidence away. "Early snowfall like the one we had recently always remind skiers winter is just around the corner" says Bret Helenius, Director of Sales for Taos Ski Valley. Temperatures are already dipping below freezing in the ski valley and snowmaking guns will begin making snow sometime in October. Millennium Passes are on sale until September 15, 2003 for $425. This year you can buy the pass that is good for 70 days of skiing, plus 3 days at Telluride, 3 days at Durango and 3 days at Monarch Ski and Snowboard area.
