Second Annual Alpine Classic Road Race Comes to TSV

On August 28th and 29th the finals of the New Mexico Road Series will be held in and around Taos Ski Valley. Hundreds of bicycle racers will participate in the two day, three event race, or at least parts of it, which includes a road race and hill climb and a criterium in the Village Taos Ski Valley.

The road race will begin on Saturday at 8:30am from the Arroyo Seco School. Riders will complete a 23 mile course with top riders making the loop up to four times! Spectators can take in all the speed and competition from down town Arroyo Seco. The road race will be followed by a hill climb from Arroyo Seco to the Village of Taos Ski Valley beginning at 2PM. On Sunday the 29th riders in the criterium will zoom around the parking area at Taos Ski Valley beginning at 9:30am. There will be food and drink stands available for spectators from 9:30 - 2:30.

The kids' race begins at 12:00 followed by the pro racers criterium at 12:30. Whether you ride or not the Alpine Classic is a great way to spend a day in the mountains. For registration forms and more information please go to alpineclassic.org. And remember, pedaling uphill is fun.
