Taos Ski Valley, NM – Desert dry couldn’t be farther from the truth when you’re talking about Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico in the last 2 weeks. Over 3 1/2 feet of snow has fallen since Jan. 1 and forecasters are calling for continued snow through Jan. 13.
Today’s storm (Jan. 12) total is already close to the two foot mark and there are no signs of stopping. Snow is expected to continue into the evening tonight and will clear tomorrow. Almost all of Taos’ famed steeps including the Ridge, are filled with powder hounds and more is opening each day. “The conditions are exceptional for January in New Mexico” says Bret Helenius, dirctor of sales at Taos Ski Valley.
Most of the Ridge Terrain has been open for the last few weeks and is approaching epic standards. For more information, go to www.skitaos.org or call 505-776-2291x1227.
