The most terrain open in NM

100% of the beginner and intermediate runs as well as Chairs 4 and 7a are now open. The recent snow has allowed us to open more of the Mountain and made for some really great skiing. TSV began building its base of machine made snow in Oct. and foot packing the runs that do not have snowmaking. Taos has excellent coverage on over 750 acres of skiing for a total of 2844 vertical feet. With twice the amount of open terrain of any other New Mexico ski area and the best conditions in the state, Taos has exceptional skiing. The snowmaking system combined with recent snows have provided excellent coverage on the slopes. All lifts are operational. Highline Ridge and West Basin Ridge out to 5th Chute are open on a limited basis. It seems like we are opening new runs every few days, said Chris Stagg, Taos Ski Valleys VP of Marketing.

The Learn to Ski Better Week (available every week of the ski season) The Ernie Blake Ski School is extremely proud of its flagship program, the ski week. Through the years this program has evolved into one the most successful and most imitated in the country. Some guests have been coming to Taos for over two decades, it allows the instructor to effect the changes and give insight to each guest to foster improved performance from each individual, said Jeff Mugleston, Manager of the Ernie Blake Ski School. Many life long friendships have been created out of the ski weeks. We have people from Steamboat, Beaver Creek, and Keystone, who come to Taos. They say they will never go anywhere else to take lessons. =

The ski week is based on the continuity of skiing five or six days of consecutive lessons, with the same instructor and class. The ski schools reputation as North Americas best rests on Ernie Blakes unique ski week vision. Ski week devotees swear by the annual pilgrimage to tune up their skiing, renew spirits and sustain long-time friendships at Taos Ski Valley. Ski weeks run from Sunday through Friday every week of the ski season, with two hours of instruction from 10:00 am until noon each morning with extra instructional hours for First Timers and Specialized Super Ski Week. Ski weeks are open to beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers. Our innovative ski technique and tactics include video analysis; tech talk and discussion of biomechanics. Its about having fun, most guests are advanced skiers and take the class because the instructor is more of a coach, guide, comedian, and historian, said Mugleston. On any giving day there is no better way to get to the snow, or ski places you never knew existed. Its about skiing with fun people, its the whole package. Lift ticket is not included in lesson price. =
