Taos Ski Valley Expands Summer Events
Summer Fun � in the Mountains of Taos!
From a hot summer, come to a place that's blissfully cool. From a noisy world, come to a place of quiet pleasures. When you love the mountains,you dream about a place that leaves the world behind. The Village of Taos Ski Valley is that place, where cares fall away and adventure begins. From our village, trails lead to New Mexico's highest peaks. Throughout the summer and fall, we hike, horseback ride, llama trek, trout fish and ride the chair lift.
This summer Taos Ski Valley will have a Euro Bungy, Maze Tower and Disc Golf. All these will be available for the opening of the chair lift on June 22nd.
Enjoy fine classical music or attend a barn dance. Or try a Wine & Dine with the Stars Weekend - lodging, dining, wine tasting and stargazing - in July, August and September. Join us for our Birthday Celebration on July 4, our Labor Day Celebration, and our Oktoberfest.
Hiking - Experience hiking in the Rocky Mountains the way it should be. Pristine, undeveloped and crowd free, the mountains surrounding Taos Ski Valley are a hikers dream! Numerous trails lead you to crystal clear lakes, mountain streams, breathtaking views and Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico. Our family and pet friendly village is the perfect base camp for day hikes or long-term hikes. Hiking in Taos Ski Valley will rejuvenate your mind and reconnect your soul to the mountains. Relaxing - Sit back and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, crisp, clean air and sheer silence of the Taos Mountains. Our perfect summer climate and friendly faces will release all tension and worries of everyday life. Sometimes the most important activity on your vacation should be doing nothing.
Summer Chairlift Rides - Taos Ski Valley's easiest and most relaxing way to enjoy the mountains. Take in the spectacular views, blue skies and clear mountain air while riding the chairlift. At the top, view wildlife, smell the flowers and hike the incredible terrain. The summer chairlift runs Thursday thru Monday, late June to late September.
Horseback Riding & Llama Trekking - Local guides can take you to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. Rides can include meals around a campfire, camping in the wilderness, or a day trip to a remote location. These trips will reconnect you and your entire family with nature and remind you that the Rocky Mountains are a special place.
Trout Fishing - The crystal clear waters of the Hondo River slices through Taos Ski Valley and provides stream fishing for trout and other native species.
Taos School of Music - Founded in 1963, the Taos School of Music is one of the oldest and most respected summer chamber music programs in the country. It is an intensive eight-week program devoted solely to the study and performance of chamber music in which students receive daily coaching and have extensive performing opportunities. Enjoy concerts, recitals and seminars from mid-June to early August. The audience members also have the option of dining with the musicians and students prior to the performances. Barn Dances - Put on your dancing shoes for Taos Ski Valley's authentic, small-town barn dances. These family events include live music from popular local bands and are held from early July to early September. Lodging specials are available at local hotels and restaurants will be open with food and drink specials. 4th of July Celebration - Celebrate Independence Day in small town fashion. The entire family will enjoy a parade, music, dancing and rubber duck race. Kids can ride on the fire truck and everyone can compete in the fire hose water polo contest. (You have to see it to believe it.)
Stargazing - The altitude and dark skies at Taos Ski Valley are perfect for exploring the universe with local astronomers and telescopes. The stargazing is free and open to the public. Taos Ski Valley is also known for its fine wine and dining opportunities, and stargazers can come up early for a fine wine dinner. Oktoberfest - A signature event in Taos Ski Valley. Come to the mountains and enjoy a small town celebration of German food, beer, activities, dancing, and contests. Live, authentic German music and dancers will perform during the celebration. Fun for the entire family!
Fall Foliage - Late September to early October is a special time at Taos Ski Valley. Crisp, clear nights and sunny, warm days make it an ideal time for mountain walks and viewing the golden aspen trees as they contrast with the deep green pine trees. This majestic backdrop provides an ideal setting for photographers, artist groups and weddings.
